Security Officer Johens Misere and Operations Manager Robert Loch On Wednesday, August 20, 2003, the Central Florida Hotel & Lodging Association Security Council recognized Security Officer Johens Misere for his dedication commitment to the safety and security of our community. S/O Misere was nominated by Sharon Celcis of the Orlando Police Department. "Several weeks ago, Security Officer Johens Misere was working at the Travelodge on American Way. While on patrol of the property, he realized and observed a suspicious white male has broken into multiple vehicles. Officer Misere encountered the make suspect inside one of the vehicles. The suspect attempted to hit Misere with a rock. Misere moved out of the way so the rock would not strike him. The suspect then fled on foot towards another motel (Motel 6) in the area. Officer Misere followed the suspect to that hotel. The suspect tried to punch and push Misere to the ground and both were engaged in a short scuffle. The suspect, however, broke loose, opened a hotel entry door with a key card, and went inside. At that point, Officer Misere was locked out, but he proceeded to the front desk immediately to summons the police, ASAP. The suspect, whose arms were cut and bleeding (possibly due to breaking into vehicles) went up the stairway and Officer Misere stood by until the police/K-9 unit arrived. The O.P.D. K-9 unit tracked the suspect with negative results. It was discovered that the suspect burglarized four vehicles and attempted to break into two other vehicles. Orlando Police detectives followed-up their investigation and found that the suspect was a registered guest at Motel 6. In conclusion, the suspect was positively identified as the perpetrator of the vehicle/attempted vehicle burglaries, and was taken to jail. If it were not for the determination, alertness, and assistance of Officer Misere, this criminal would have continued his desperate crime spree. Of behalf of the Central Florida Hotel & Lodging Association Security Council, we commend Officer Misere for a job well done!" |
